Stockholmsmässan - Largest Formex in history

   Release: Stockholmsmässan

On August 19-22, Formex kickstarted the season for the interior design and gifts industry at Stockholmsmässan. This fall's exhibition was the largest Formex in history in terms of surface area.

Over a period of four days, the interior design and gifts industry gathered at Stockholmsmässan to make their purchases for the fall and see the latest trends. In total around 900 exhibitors participated, covering an area of just over 31,000 sqm.A total of 23,305 visitors attended the exhibition, which is an increase of more than 2,000 compared to last fall's Formex. Finland, Norway, Germany and Denmark were the most well-represented countries, and the total number of international visitors increased by almost 25 percent.

“The atmosphere at the entire exhibition was very positive. Even though the sun was shining outside, the halls were packed. It was evident that people had been looking forward to this gathering. Stores had been posting good sales numbers due to the rainy, cold summer, and it was now time to fill the stockrooms again.Multiple new products were unveiled and exhibitors reported that business was booming. Many even sold out of their products during the first couple days,” says Christina Olsson, Event Manager for Formex.

The House Cat, a cardboard and steel construction towering five meters high was designed by the architect firm, Codesign, and portrayed the theme for the year, Nordic Essence. Visitors were also able to witness craftsmanship first-hand as several of the country's leading artisans demonstrated their skills in the activity area, The House Cat Festival. Formex continues to bring together trends and food. This fall's Trend Restaurant was designed by Jan Rundgren. Inspiration was taken from the theme of the exhibition, and the menu featured Swedish classics with a modern twist.

Formex's design award, Formex Nova 2015, went to Erik Olovsson & Kyuhyung Cho for the playful collaborations in their Room, Sine and Numbers collections.

The presence of the exhibition in social media continues to rise, primarily on Instagram where around 16,000 pictures were added under #formex and other Formex-related hashtags.
The next Formex will take place January 20-23, 2016 at Stockholmsmässan.

Formex is arranged by Stockholmsmässan and takes place twice a year. It is the leading Nordic meeting place for new products, business opportunities, trends, knowledge and inspiration in the interiors industry. Formex welcomes 850 exhibitors, 23,000 trade visitors and more than 850 media representatives.
