   ICAM 16 - Reception at the Emperor at Frankfurt's Römer

The "International Confederation of Architectural Museums" has for its 16th Meeting elected the venue Frankfurt. The 90 participants of the ICAM 16 days of 2 to 6th September. On Sunday evening, participants were welcomed with a reception at the Emperor at Frankfurt's Römer. Cultural Affairs Felix Semmelroth spoke the welcome speech to an international audience.

German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt the DAM and the M:AI  Museum of Architecture and Engineering NRW in Gelsenkirchen have organized together. The post-conference tour is conducted by Eva-Maria Barkhofen, Academy of Arts in Berlin.

Both Peter Cachola Schmal, DAM and Ursula Kleefisch-Jobst from M: AI and Eva-Maria Barkhofen, Academy of Arts in Berlin are involved in the preparation of the conference program.

Felix Semmelroth stressed the importance of architecture City of Frankfurt in Europe, referring to the many Frankfurt institutions on the riverbank and still belonged to other museums like Schirn and MMK. City and roads were still heavily influenced by the early 1950s and 1960s. In one breath he called Jean Nouvel, Peter Eisenman, Helmut Jahn, Oswald Mathias Ungers and many others that have already been built in Frankfurt. Also to express his confidence in a continuation of this architectural line in the city. Frankfurt consisted of a mixture of architectural modernity and historic structures, as has been explained using the example of the currently running Römerberg buildings.

Other speakers included Dietmar M. Steiner, director of the Center for Architecture in Vienna and ICAM-President and Anne Katrin Bohle, which is since May 2009 Head of Department of Urban Development and Conservation in NRW.
